After Builders Cleaning Can Be An Absolute Nightmare
Has building work in your house left your living area a mess? Or are you a building company that needs some help cleaning up after a job? Although builders and construction workers are supposed to clean up and remove as much rubbish as possible, there’s always going to be little bits of debris, and plenty of dust and dirt left behind, despite their best cleanup efforts. Dust has the unfortunate habit of spreading to other areas of the house and finding itself nestling in the unlikeliest of places and rooms furthest away from the building work. • Although this advice may be coming too late, it’s definitely a good idea to keep all the doors in your house closed whilst the building work is going on. If possible, try to section off the area where the building work is taking place by hanging large plastic sheets in any doorways of nearby rooms that don’t have doors. This will prevent dust and dirt from travelling around your house. You can also use these sheets or some old curtains and duvet covers to lay on the floors around your house, as it is common knowledge that builders will spread the dirt when they walk around. All of these preventative measures will hopefully minimise the clean up job when the building work has been completed, and will make your life a whole lot easier. If you are reading this after the work has already been completed, bare this in mind for next time but you could also use this method whilst cleaning your house, because dust and dirt will still spread and move around when you’re cleaning. • Clean systematically from room to room whilst tackling the worst affected areas first. You should first use a broom to get rid of any large bits of rubble and debris into a bin. However, a major problem after building work is dealing with the dust. Start of by vacuuming every area that you can, floors, and furniture and upholstery too if they have gathered any dust. If carpets and rugs have been left uncovered, take them outside first and give them a smack on the back to remove and dislodge as must dirt as possible. Vacuum well, however be prepared to get the hoover out again once all the other cleaning jobs have been completed.• Cleaners often use the damp dusting technique; get a soft towel or some old bed sheets and dampen it with some warm soapy water. Use this to gently wipe down every wall and exposed surface in your house, including windows, the ceiling and any wooden flooring, which will cause the dust to stick to the wetness of the towel. Depending on the amount of building work done and the level of resulting dust, you might need to use this technique several times over the next few weeks. This will be time consuming but you will definitely see the results that you are after. Whilst damp dusting, cover the tops of cupboard with paper, because these hard to reach surfaces are notorious for collecting dust which won’t settle while dusting. • Depending on the size of the task at hand and the amount of building work that has taken place, it might be a good idea to call in the experts. Cleaning agencies will provide you with a high quality cleaning service and will supply a knowledgeable and fully trained team of professional cleaners to tackle all of your after builders cleaning requirements.
